Results From Feedback

There were a few things we learnt from our feedback that we're happy to consider and eventually change. The story of the film was understood and the jump scare was successfully achieved.
Where we're improving our film:

  • chase sequence needs to be extended, more dramatic and clearer
  • the dialog is too quiet
  • the heroin sequence needs to be more graphic with drug taking
  • to improve and clarify the narrative, we aim to have a brief sentence to describe the situation.
  • the picture quality is also in need of improvement
In order to achieve these aims we are going to re-shoot the film again with a better quality camera (canon 600d) to improve the picture quality and control the light exposure and colour correction. We are also going to change the storyboard around to reinforce the chase scene. We are also going to put one more shot into the film at the end and put the "Wayward" title at the beginning of the film with our Tarantino style descriptive quote (like from Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction). This will enforce the idea our character "Richard" is deranged, something we didn't explore enough in the film. We are also going to change the film so it is in Cinemascope (2:35:1).

Risk Assessment

We need to take the necessary precautions in order for the knife to not cause any damage. In order for this, all of us who work on the filming need to know where the knife is at all times so we dont accidentally cause injury to ourselves. We also need to make sure the knife is always visible and not hidden so none of us accidentally touch it. We also need to make sure that I have a towel. This is because I play Richard who doesn't have shoes and because it's on a cold winter afternoon, i will need a towel to warm my feet up.

Equipment Needed To Film

Most of all we need a camera and an external microphone but we need to first of all get a mic then find an appropriate way of stopping the wind disrupting the dialog.
To do this we will need a foam cover.

Wayward Screenplay

“WAYWARD”

EXT. STREET- NIGHT
[Katie and Anna are walking home. The party they were at is in the background and the music can just be heard]

ANNA
How you getting back?

KATIE
(Drunk) Walk. Probably. (Long pause) You?

ANNA
My Dad’s here. I’ll see you later.

[There’s a long pause with no sound Katie is alone]

KATIE

[Twigs can be heard breaking as Katie steps on them]

(Whispering) Where the fuck am I. (Repeating it with slight fear) I don’t know where I am, don’t know where I am. Don’t know.

[We hear Katie rest down on the floor]

EXT. FOREST-DAY(5 AM)

[Katie opens her eyes and sees a man’s legs run by. She then opens her eyes again and checks herself and looks around.]

[She gets up and walks around. Richard appears in the scene and Katie turns around]

KATIE
Who the fuck are you?

RICHARD
(Long pause) Who are you?

KATIE
Can you help me?

[Richard gives a prolonged stare]

[Jump cut to the near future. Katie is being chased. Jumps back to the morning]

EXT. FOREST-DAY(5.30 AM)
[Katie and Richard are entering Richard’s small den]

KATIE
What’s that there? Are you sick?

RICHARD
It’s heroin you wank stain. How are old are you?

KATIE
15. Why?

RICHARD
[Richard is preparing the heroin. He puts the band around his arm]
What you doing at school? That you like I mean.

KATIE
Erm…Latin

RICHARD
If you speak Latin you’re probably a cunt

KATIE
I’m not. You smoke heroin. You probably are.

RICHARD
You don’t smoke heroin, fuck face.

[Richard picks up the towel, which reveals the knife. Katie and Richard exchange looks before Katie rapidly gets up and runs. We see Katie run and Richard run after her.]

[Katie falls over and Richard draws his knife. The screen turns black as Richard goes to stab her. We hear repeated stabbing]

[We see from Katie’s point of view as Richard walks away covered in blood]
